Reflection While scrolling mindlessly on the app store, this application was the last one I found and decided to download. I had so many other apps downloaded on my phone and I was getting ready to test them all until I saw DailyArt. The name intrigued me at first and the main app design looked interesting as well. When I read the description, it instantly attracted me to it. “Every day get inspired by beautiful classical, modern and contemporary art masterpieces and read short stories about them.” I am trying to incorporate more art history knowledge these days and wanting to be more exposed to different types of art.
Already using this application for my own, I can definitely see myself incorporating this into my lesson plans geared towards high school students. Approaching key standards through this app will not make it feel like it is a task or homework assignment but more of a daily reminder and activity; at their own pace and level. Not only can this be used in an art history class per-say, but I can imagine using this in any art class. If I were to incorporate this into my lesson plan, I would make it a daily routine. Each student will be assigned a day that they will be reading their specific masterpiece on and presenting to the class whatever they found interesting or not interesting and why. This is for them to come into the classroom with an artistic mindset, being open and independent on their likes and dislikes. There will not be a right or wrong answer for this exercise, it is solely for the students to be thinking and finding out their own style. Not only will this help build a sense of trust and bond in the classroom, but collaboration through student-teacher and student-student.
Overall, I really enjoy DailyArt as an app and am happy to have stumbled upon it. It is a little pick me up to get me going through the day and hopefully one day I can start building relationships through this app with my future students as well; and we can all learn new things about art together.
